Science Exhibition turns the laboratory into a public forum

Over sixty student investigations filled the science laboratory for a full day, with every team required to explain their method, their evidence and — crucially — what they would do differently next time.

Projects ranged from water filtration and electrolysis to plant growth trials that had been running quietly on a windowsill since June. Visiting parents were encouraged to ask hard questions, and several students found the follow-up questions harder than the experiment.

The Head of the Science Department framed the day plainly: the point is not the display board, it is whether a student can defend a claim. On that measure, it was the strongest exhibition we have run.

Robotics workshop: from first line of code to a working rover

Middle and high school students spent a week in the robotics workshop building, programming and iterating. The brief was deliberately open: make something that moves under its own control and does one useful thing.

Most teams failed on the first attempt. Two failed on the third. By Friday every group had a working machine and, more usefully, a clear account of what had gone wrong along the way.

The Techies leadership team demonstrated the finished rovers to visiting parents, fielding questions about sensors, gear ratios and why the first design kept driving into the wall.

Karate squad returns from the district championship with silverware

Our karate squad returned from the district championship with a trophy that now stands in the front office, alongside belt promotions across every age group in the same season.

Karate at PEACE is a daily programme rather than a club, which shows in the gradings: students who train every morning progress steadily rather than in bursts before a test.

The instructor was characteristically restrained about the result, noting only that the students who had attended most consistently were the ones who placed.

Nature Guardians plant and adopt saplings across the neighbourhood

The Nature Guardians leadership team planted saplings across the neighbourhood, following a visit to a local plant nursery where students chose species suited to the soil and the summer.

Planting was the easy part. The team has committed to watering and monitoring each sapling through the year, with named students responsible for named trees — the difference between an activity and a responsibility.

Several parents have since offered to help with watering during the school holidays.

Peace Talent Stage: a microphone for every child, every month

The monthly Peace Talent Stage belongs entirely to the students. Qur'anic recitation, storytelling, science demonstrations, poetry and stand-up explanations of things the speaker found interesting.

The rule is simple: every student gets the microphone at some point during the year. For some it is the most nerve-racking five minutes of their term, and for exactly that reason it is one of the most valuable.

Teachers do not curate the content beyond basic suitability. What students choose to bring tells us a great deal about what they are actually interested in.

Transport network widens with new routes across Kurnool

Additional bus routes and boarding points now serve families in the outer localities of Kurnool, following a review of admissions and the requests received at the front office over the past year.

Routes are reviewed annually. If your locality is not yet covered, tell the office — coverage decisions are made on the basis of where families actually live rather than a fixed map.

All new routes run with the same standards: licensed drivers, trained attendants for younger students, and the same handover rules that apply at the school gate.
